Visit by a Professor and Students from the Graduate School of Information Technology and Intellectual Property,Dankook University in Korea

On August 9, 2018, Professor Kim Yong-Ho and five students from the Global IP Department of the Graduate School of Information Technology and Intellectual Property, Dankook University in Korea visited the IP High Court.

The visitors were given a briefing by Chief Judge Makiko Takabe on a number of topics, including the system of IP-related litigation in Japan, systems of judicial research officials and technical advisors, details of technical explanatory sessions, and various efforts toward internationalization taken by the IP High Court, including co-hosting the Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property / TOKYO 2017. Following this, the visitors asked Chief Judge Takabe and Judge Masaki Sugiura many questions on issues of fostering mutual understanding through international exchanges, particularly understanding the differences in judges’ attitudes among countries, and roles of the court in solving international IP disputes.
