Visit by the Director of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of Indonesia and Other Officials

On February 26, 2019, eleven officials, including Director Tarigan of the Directorate of Copyrights and Industrial Designs of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of Indonesia visited the IP High Court as part of a program to study the enforcement of intellectual property rights. This study visit program aims to investigate actual enforcement situations in Japan and thereby to promote discussions and examinations in Indonesia for the purpose of consolidating IP rights enforcement in the country. Participants in the program comprised officials of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, the Supreme Court, the National Police and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
From the IP High Court, Judge Akira Katase provided an explanation of the IP-related litigation system in Japan with a focus on injunction demands based on infringement of IP rights. Following this, Chief Judge Makiko Takabe and other judges participated in the discussion and exchanged opinions with Indonesian officials on topics including how to train judges to obtain expertise.
