Visit by JICA/WIPO Trainees

On July 18, 2017, four JICA/WIPO trainees of the Graduate School of Intellectual Property, Osaka Institute of Technology, visited the IP High Court.
After observing parties making statements of the outcome of preparatory proceedings on the date for oral argument, the trainees were given an explanation from Presiding Judge Makiko Takabe and Judge Akira Katase on the outline of the practice of the IP High Court. The trainees then took a tour of the office of judicial research officials with a brief explanation on the Judicial Research Officials System.
The trainees had an active Q&A session on various topics including the IP High Court’s international collaboration, the issues on copyright litigation regarding the development of AI, and international jurisdiction over intellectual property litigation.
