Visit by Participants in 2016 JPO/IPR Training Course

On February 16, 2017, trainees of the JPO/IPR training course (course for IP protection lawyers) (20 practitioners, including attorneys, specialized in intellectual property from Brazil, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) visited the IP High Court. After observing the case in a court, they had a Q&A session with Judge Kenichi Furukawa of the IP High Court on court proceedings and other matters, paid a courtesy call to Chief Judge Misao Shimizu and further, visited the office of judicial research officials. The participants had a lively Q&A session on proceedings of court procedures in a court, the relationship between the infringement lawsuit and the suits against appeal/trial decisions made by the JPO, and other matters.
