Participation in Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property

On November 30, 2018, the Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property Advanced Seminar for ASEAN+3 2018 was held. Chief Judge Makiko Takabe of the IP High Court provided an overview of the practices of IP-related litigation in Japan in her keynote address entitled “IP-related Litigation in Japan.”(PDF2280KB) Judge Kenichi Furukawa participated as a panelist, along with Judge Assistant Ma Yungpeng of the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China and Presiding Judge Lee Jejeong of the Patent Court of Korea, in the panel discussion held under the title of “IP Dispute Resolution for License Agreements on Patents and Trade Secrets.” An active question-and-answer session was held during the panel discussion regarding topics such as the licensing system of the participating ASEAN countries, legal remedies and the details of such remedies in hypothetical cases relating to license agreements.
